The current crop of young people lack confidence in their abilities to become successful and acquire wealth and thus, resort to illegitimate means whenever they get an opportunity to amass wealth, the Chief Executive Officer of BC Bencyn Group Benjamin Anyanah Acheliswine has said.
Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, Benjamin Acheliswine argued that people who are confident in succeeding and earning a decent living do not engage in thievery and other acts of corruption.
“I think they don’t have confidence in themselves. That’s the most unfortunate thing. So, you give opportunity, they want to steal. People who have confidence and know they can make it life, don’t steal,” he said.
The business executive was making his observation of the youth of the country, who are most affected by Ghana’s unemployment crisis.
He also observed that the youth are desirous of quick riches and thus, will rather cut corners than go through strenuous processes or undertake laborious activities to establish themselves.
He said seeking quick riches may not only land you on the wrong side of the law but could also jeopardize your entire future.
“Most of them (the youth) are in a hurry. They’re so much in a hurry and success cannot go with a hurry. It is a process.”
He urged the youth to build competencies in their interest areas and grab any opportunity that comes their way if they desire to succeed in life.
He also urged them to be confident in their abilities and persevere in the face of difficulties.
