Actor Yvonne Nelson is appealing to Ghanaians support her stage a protest over the incessant power cuts that have plagued most parts of the country.

In a statement dated April 30 and signed by her, the actor expressed grave concern over the current power situation, describing it as disheartening and an erosion of the progress the country made after resolving a similar crisis a few years ago.

“I am extending an open call to all Ghanaians, organizations, and legal professionals who are willing to join me in pushing for meaningful action to address the current power crisis” .

In 2015, Yvonne Nelson together with her colleague entertainers and members of Civil Society Organizations particularly Imani Africa staged a similar protest dubbed Dumsor Must Stop Vigil over the power crisis that bedevilled the country at the time.

However, her recent call on Imani Africa for collaboration for another protest has not yielded expected response as two officers of the organization Franklin Cudjoe and Bright Simons have declined her request and subtly called her out for not supporting related cause by the think tank over the time.

The actor is, therefore, extending her call to all and sundry who are willing to support her stage a protest to demand actions from leaders.

Stressing the need to pile pressure on leaders, Yvonne Nelson said, “I never imagined that we would find ourselves in this situation once again, and the fact that it persists for another long period is truly alarming”.
