A former Upper East Regional Deputy Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Andrew Atariwini, has reaffirmed his belief in the competence of Kennedy Agyapong to transform the NPP and Ghana, even as he acknowledged the party’s decision to elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

Atariwini, who was one of Kennedy Agyapong’s strongest supporters during the NPP’s presidential primaries, made the remarks during an engagement with James Nana Tsiquaye on Dreamz FM’s The State of Our Nation programme.

He noted that while he backed Dr. Bawumia in previous presidential primaries, he switched his support to Kennedy Agyapong ahead of the 2024 primaries, convinced that Agyapong possessed superior policies and greater competence.

“I believed, and still believe in the competence of Kennedy Agyapong to be able to revolutionise the NPP and the country. But the party thought otherwise and chose Dr. Bawumia,” he said.

Despite his preference, Atariwini said he has since fully thrown his weight behind Dr. Bawumia and is committed to supporting him to win the 2028 general elections.
