Former Member of Parliament for Binduri Constituency, Dr. Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem has bemoaned what he says are witchcraft and evil practices in the politics of the constituency.
According to Dr. Kuganab-Lem, some malicious characters in the constituency, who do not wish well for the area, have been using evil powers against well-meaning constituents especially in elections, resulting in the constant change of Members of Parliament.
“There are a lot of evil things I wouldn’t want to say them on air that people did and I saw them with naked eyes. And I wouldn’t want mention this but there is a lot of witchcraft in this Binduri’s issue (constant change of MPs), bad practices, destructive,” he said in an interview on Breakfast Today.
The former MP, who claimed to have witness such evil acts, believes these evil forces, some of who are within the NDC, masterminded his defeat in the party’s recent primaries and in the 2020 Elections.
He claimed his victory in the 2018 primaries of the NDC angered individuals within the party in the constituency who have teamed up with non-party members to block his chances of ever making back to parliament.
Describing the said individuals as vicious and treacherous, Dr. Kuganab-Lem said although his contender, Issifu Mahmoud was not their favourite, they did everything including seeking support from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure that he won just to get back him.
He cautioned the party against such individuals as he said they are not about its interest but their selfish pursuit.
Dr. Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem joined a tall of MPs for the area who failed in their bid for re-election.
He entered Parliament in 2017 after beating the then NPP’s candidate, Abdulai Abanga in the 2016 elections.
However, in 2020, Mr. Abanga stopped his bid to break the 1-term jinx in the parliamentary history of the constituency.
His attempt to stage a comeback in the 2024 Elections was also quashed by legal practitioner, Issifu Mahmoud, who, he claimed, was aided by vicious persons within the NDC to beat him.
