A Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Talensi Constituency, who doubles as the District Chief Executive of the area, Thomas Duanab Wuni has expressed confidence in winning the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries of the Party and subsequently, the seat in 2024.
Mr Duanab said, he is well established with good standing to snatch the Talensi seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), having contested the 2015 by-elections, the 2016 and 2020 Parliamentary Elections in the constituency.
According to him, his appearance in the past Parliamentary Elections in the Constituency has significantly increased NPP’s votes in the area.
Speaking to Journalists after filing his nominations to contest the party’s upcoming Parliamentary Primaries, Mr Duanab noted that, the election is not about insults but a collective resolve to win the 2024 General Elections.
While admitting that the Talensi seat has been occupied more by the NDC than the NPP, he stated that, the party needs a united front to stand up to the NDC to wrestle seats from them.
Mr Duanab added that the developmental projects he has undertaken across the constituency since he assumed office as DCE have endeared him to the people, giving him a competitive advantage in the election.
He said, “I’m established, I had a spell, one at the by-election, 2016 I was there 2020, I repeated and 2020 showed class that we were likely to win the election, but for policy issues that derailed our work”.
“Now that I’m in charge, I know where and what to do to be able to garner the votes for the party. My continuous appearance, I have never been a DCE, now I’m one. I’m more connected to the people. The effort I’m making to bring progress to the district makes the difference,” Mr Duanab told Journalists.
