The Executive Director of FarmYield Africa, Emmanuel Nsobila has revealed that his outfit is ready to support senior high schools in the region, who are interested in embarking on a school farm project.
Mr. Nsobila, who was impressed by a documentary by Dreamz FM, highlighting how some schools, despite the challenges, are struggling to operate gardens, disclosed his desire to support second-circle institutions.
“Great Documentary! I’m inspired by listening to your documentary. My Team is open to supporting any secondary school in the region that wants to go into farming. We will support them with Inputs, mechanization, and Agronomist services.” His message to Dreamz News was captured.
The School Farms Documentary tells the story of how the Bolgatanga Senior High School in the Upper East Region has managed to keep a school garden, and recently harvested 16 bags of onions, and also tells the story of Kanton SHS in the Upper West Region that successfully harvested 33 bags of maize.
In the documentary, farm managers and heads of these schools appealed for support to be able to expand their farms.
It is on this basis that Mr. Nsobila, who was impressed by the efforts thus far, told Dreamz News that his outfit will step in to assist interested senior high schools in the region that will want to engage in farming.
With the support to be rendered to the senior high schools, FarmYield Africa will provide tractor service, seeds, and agronomists’ service, and the schools will only have to pay with a few bags of the produce.
Mr. Nsobila revealed that the initial cost will be entirely borne by the organization.
“This is a very good initiative, and I am happy to hear about the steps being taken, and for us at FarmYield Africa, we are ready to help schools in the region to start up their farms. We are going to provide them with 360 services from land preparation to harvest. We will provide them the mechanization, seeds, fertilizer, and agronomists’ services, and during harvest, they will pay with some of the produce.” He disclosed.
He also disclosed that his outfit would soon launch the Balungu farm project, which the youth can take advantage of, to start farming.
