Bank of Africa has donated food and beverage items to the Muslim community in Bolgatanga to support the observance of Ramadan.
The items were presented by the Bolgatanga branch manager of the bank, Pius Gandaa, to the Upper East Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Yussif Imam Umar, as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The donation included seven bags of rice, three cartons of sunflower oil, one bag of sugar, about 14 packs of soft drinks, and around 20 packs of mineral water to support members of the Muslim community during the fasting period.
Gandaa said the gesture was meant to assist the Chief Imam, who often supports members of the community during Ramadan.

“We are in the holy month of Ramadan, and as part of our social responsibility, the bank is reaching out to support the community,” Gandaa said. “The Imam has a lot on his hands trying to help people around him go through the holy month successfully.”
He explained that the donation was made on behalf of the bank’s managing director, Abderrahmane Belbachir, who encouraged the branch to present the items to support the Muslim leadership in the area.
“It is not much, but we thought it wise to come with something small to support him in reaching out to those who may need help during this holy month,” Gandaa said.
According to him, the donation also marks the beginning of what the bank hopes will become a long-term relationship with the Muslim community.
“This is the start of a beautiful relationship we want to keep going,” he said. “In subsequent Ramadans and other Islamic activities, we will be in a position to assist and support as much as possible.”
Receiving the items, Sheikh Yussif Imam Umar expressed appreciation to the bank for the gesture and said the support would help the Muslim community during Ramadan, a period marked by fasting, prayer, and charity.
