Young women are increasingly prioritizing ambition and personal growth over financial status when choosing romantic partners, according to a discussion on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today” holiday edition.

Panelists Eunice Aboyei, Gifty Asore and Prosper Wooma said they are open to dating partners without money, but stressed that a lack of direction or effort is a major deal breaker.

“I can be with a man that doesn’t have money, but you are working towards it,” Eunice said. “If you are a lazy person, you don’t have an aim, no direction, I can’t.”

The conversation highlighted a growing shift in relationship expectations, where mutual growth and shared goals are seen as more important than immediate financial stability.

Panelists emphasized the importance of “leveling up together,” arguing that both partners should continuously improve themselves rather than rely on one person’s success.

The discussion reflects broader conversations among young adults navigating modern relationships, where economic pressures and changing gender roles are reshaping traditional expectations.
