The Bolgatanga Central Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party has begun a fresh round of grassroots reorganization as it looks to strengthen its base ahead of the 2028 general elections, a senior party official said.

Richard Abagna, popularly known as Abaska, the constituency secretary, said the party has started distributing nomination forms for polling station elections as part of efforts to rebuild its structures from the ground up.

“We’ve started the sale and distribution of nomination forms to the various electoral areas and polling stations,” Mr Abagna said in an interview on Dreamz FM’s “State of Our Nation” program.

He said the forms, priced at 10 Ghana cedis, were deliberately kept affordable to encourage broader participation, especially among unemployed youth and grassroots supporters.

In a move that has drawn attention locally, a private individual from the constituency has purchased all nomination forms for polling station positions, allowing aspirants to pick them up free of charge.

Mr Abagna described the gesture as a contribution toward strengthening the party, noting that such acts align with internal expectations for members seeking future leadership roles.

“At this level, we want to encourage more people to participate. Some may not be able to afford even the modest fee, so this intervention helps,” he said.

The reorganization comes at a critical time for the party in Bolgatanga Central, a constituency it has historically struggled to win.

Mr Abagna expressed optimism that rebuilding at the grassroots level would improve the party’s fortunes, adding that experienced leadership and renewed engagement with voters will be key to future success.
