The New Patriotic Party is calling for a permanent fix to the Bolgatanga-Bawku road, arguing that temporary measures have failed to address the problem.
Issah Sanusi said ongoing maintenance efforts, including grading and watering, are insufficient and do not meet the expectations of residents.
“The people want the road properly constructed, not reshaped,” he said during a radio discussion on Dreamz FM.
Mr Sanusi argued that government has not prioritized the road despite its importance as a key transport link in the region.
He also questioned the effectiveness of current interventions, saying they provide only short-term relief.
According to him, the recent protest reflects genuine public concern rather than political orchestration.
“Residents are simply asking government to fulfill its promises and deliver a lasting solution,” he said.
Mr Sanusi urged authorities to accelerate work on the road to improve safety and economic activity in the area.
