A communicator for the New Patriotic Party has criticized the government over the state of a key road in the Upper East Region, backing recent protests by residents.
Issah Sanusi said the demonstration reflects widespread frustration over the condition of the Bolgatanga-Bawku road, particularly a deteriorated stretch near Kula.
“People are suffering daily. This is not about politics, it is about lives and livelihoods,” he said on Dreamz FM.
Sanusi described the road as hazardous, citing reports of accidents, health issues and economic hardship for residents who rely on the route.
He rejected claims that the protest was politically motivated, insisting that citizens have the right to demand better infrastructure.
“Demonstration is a legitimate tool for citizens to express concern. No one can deny them that,” he said.
The protest, held last week, drew attention to the long-standing challenges faced by commuters, with residents calling for urgent and permanent solutions.
