The National Democratic Congress says the Bolgatanga-Bawku road remains a priority project, despite delays caused by financing and restructuring challenges.
Michael Nangena, a party communicator, said the government is working to restructure funding agreements to allow the main contractor to return and complete the project.
He said the delay was partly due to plans to expand the project scope to include additional roads within Bolgatanga, which required new contractual arrangements.
“We needed time to properly package the project to ensure comprehensive development,” Mr Nangena said.
He added that interim measures, including regular maintenance and dust control, have been implemented to ease conditions for road users.
Mr Nangena dismissed criticism that the government has neglected the road, saying the project is near completion and remains under active consideration.
He urged the public to remain patient, stressing that the government is committed to delivering a permanent solution.
