Peter Ayinbisa, the New Patriotic Party’s Upper East regional communications director, has denied allegations that he sidelined party communicator Peter Atohoba, insisting the latter is not part of the official communications team.
Speaking on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today” program, Mr Ayinbisa said claims that Atohoba had been deliberately excluded due to internal party politics were “false” and based on misinformation.
“I have never assigned him to any radio program because he is not a recognized member of my team,” Ayinbisa said. “That does not mean he cannot communicate for the party.”
The controversy stems from remarks suggesting that some communicators who supported candidates other than the party’s preferred flagbearer had been marginalized in media engagements.
Mr Ayinbisa rejected that assertion, stating that several individuals known to have supported different candidates continue to receive media assignments.
“To say that I sidelined someone because of who they supported is a fallacy,” he said, adding that team selection is based on structure and not personal affiliations.
He explained that members of the regional communications team are formally recognized and scheduled for media appearances, while others may still be invited independently by media houses.
“If a station invites someone outside my list, that is their editorial discretion,” he said.
Mr Ayinbisa also criticized what he described as inaccurate media reports that misrepresented his earlier comments, saying he had clarified the issue in previous interviews.
