National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator Michael Nangena has defended the party’s development record in the Upper East Region, arguing that its projects have had lasting impact on communities.
Speaking on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today” program, Mr Nangena rejected claims that residents of the region are politically biased, describing them as “discerning” voters who evaluate governments based on performance.
He said successive NDC administrations have delivered key infrastructure, including roads, electrification and education facilities, which continue to benefit the region.
Mr Nangena also defended the provision of small-scale community projects such as grinding mills, saying they address real needs, particularly for women in rural areas.
He argued that such interventions ease the burden of daily activities and contribute to local economic empowerment.
“If you understand the hardship women go through to access basic services like milling, you will appreciate the importance of these projects,” he said.
Mr Nangena further praised Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo for ongoing development initiatives, including health and community infrastructure, and dismissed criticisms of his performance.
He maintained that development should be assessed holistically, combining both large-scale infrastructure and grassroots interventions.
