Male rights advocate Charles Atakibire Ateem says traditional family values remain important in marriage despite changing societal expectations for women.
Speaking on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today” program, Ateem described a “marriage material” woman as someone committed to family unity, domestic responsibilities and collaboration within marriage.
“A marriage material woman is somebody who focuses on domestic family affairs and prioritizes things that bring unity and keep the family together,” he said.
According to Ateem, society still places high value on women who contribute to maintaining stable homes.
He contrasted traditional expectations with what he described as the priorities of some modern independent women.
“For the independent woman, all that she focuses on is autonomy, financial autonomy and career development,” Ateem said.
He argued that some career-focused women pay less attention to long-term family goals and shared responsibilities within marriage.
“She doesn’t have time to look at how the family can build long-term visions together,” he added.
Ateem, however, acknowledged that some professional women are able to balance career growth with marriage and parenting successfully.
“As you are looking at your career, you will have to balance that with your marriage and what society expects,” he said.
