The Paga Youth Movement has launched the fifth edition of its inter-community unity games, bringing together 13 communities in an effort to promote peace, unity and development in the area.
Addressing participants before the opening matches, Chairman Wenawome Aborah Aborah Wenawome said the annual event goes beyond football and entertainment and is aimed at strengthening communal ties among young people.
“Today is not only about football and entertainment, but also about strengthening peace, unity, friendship and development among our communities,” he said.
According to him, the youth movement remains committed to promoting communal growth through peaceful coexistence and collective action.
“Development can only thrive where there is peace and cooperation,” Wenawome stated.
He urged participating teams to compete with discipline and sportsmanship while respecting the rules governing the competition.
“As the games continue, I encourage all participating communities to compete in the spirit of friendship, discipline and sportsmanship,” he said.
The chairman also called on young people to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace, protecting public property and fighting drug abuse in the community.
“We must all play active roles in keeping our environment clean, ending drug abuse among the youth and protecting public and government properties,” he added.
The PAYOM inter-community unity games have become one of the major youth-centered activities in Paga, drawing participation from communities across the area.
