The Upper East Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Abdallah Jonathan Salifu, has called for increased investment in road infrastructure across the region, saying several districts still lack adequate road networks.
Speaking on Dreamz FM’s Breakfast Today programme, Mr. Salifu said while communities need social infrastructure such as schools and health facilities, road development remains critical to improving movement and economic activities.
He mentioned areas including Garu, Tempane and other parts of the region where residents continue to face challenges with road connectivity.
Mr. Salifu said the current administration must ensure that no district in the Upper East Region is left out of road projects, adding that residents deserve improved transportation networks.
He also commended some Members of Parliament in the region for actively lobbying for development projects, including efforts to get abandoned road projects restarted.
According to him, effective representation requires MPs to engage government agencies and push for projects that directly benefit their constituents.
Mr. Salifu also highlighted ongoing works on some routes, including the Garu-Tempane area, and expressed hope that more roads would be completed before the end of the current government’s tenure.
He however acknowledged that development goes beyond roads, stressing the importance of investments in education and healthcare alongside infrastructure.
