On Monday, 28th April 2025, the Regional Director of Education (RDE) for the Upper East Region, Mr. Bright Armstin Lawoe, officially handed over office at a brief but significant ceremony held at the Regional Education Office. Mr. Lawoe, who took office on 7th February 2023, is proceeding to the Savannah Region to assume the role of substantive Regional Director of Education.
During his tenure, Mr. Lawoe was noted for his firm leadership, commitment to promoting quality education delivery, and fostering collaboration among education stakeholders across the region.
The leadership mantle now passes to Mrs. Alice Ellen Abeere-Inga, the outgoing Municipal Director of Education for Kasena-Nankana East. Mrs. Abeere-Inga brings to her new role a wealth of experience spanning several decades in the education sector. She began her professional journey as a classroom teacher in the Bolgatanga Municipality, later served as a School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) in the Bongo District, and worked at the Regional Education Office as Chief Inspector of Schools and School Health Education Program (SHEP) Coordinator.
Her excellent track record in leadership earned her appointment as Headmistress of Chiana Senior High School, a position she held briefly before she was appointed as Municipal Director of Education for Kasena-Nankana East. Over her five-year tenure as Municipal Director, she also oversaw the Kasena-Nankana West District on two separate occasions.
In his handing-over remarks, Mr. Lawoe expressed deep appreciation to staff of the Regional Education Office, Municipal and District Directors of Education, and all partners for their support throughout his tenure.
“I trust that the region will continue to thrive under the capable leadership of Mrs. Abeere-Inga,” Mr. Lawoe stated.
Mrs. Abeere-Inga, in her brief remarks, pledged to build on the strong foundation laid by her predecessor and called for continuous support from all stakeholders to advance the cause of education in the Upper East Region.
The ceremony concluded with warm exchanges and a renewed commitment from all present to work collaboratively in promoting excellence in education across the region.
