Former National Chairman aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah is kicking against Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s quest to become Ghana’s president.

Dr. Amoako Baah said the Vice-President does not have the virtue and candour meriting the highest office of the land and should be rejected.

“This man should not become president because he has no honour. Honestly, at one time, he was my friend but I’m telling you the truth. What I have seen is what I have seen,” he stated in an interview on JoyNews TV.

The former KNUST’s Political Science lecturer made these remarks while speaking on the Super Delegates Conference of the NPP scheduled to come off tomorrow.

The conference, which will be held in regional capitals across the country, is aimed at whittling down the number of aspirants to 5.

The Vice-President, who is a lead contender in the race, has been projected to garner 70 percent of the votes.

But Dr. Amoako Baah is accusing him and his camp of scheming an emphatic score in the conference in an attempt to cajole the party to allow him go unopposed.

He alleged that they are already engaging in massive vote-buying in furtherance of what he said is their hidden agenda in tomorrow’s conference.

He also took issues with the Vice-President for seeking to lead the party despite serving as running mate for more than a decade.

According to him, despite Dr. Bawumia not being a member of the NPP prior to his nomination as running mate, the party was magnanimous enough to waver its rules for him to occupy the second most important position.

This, he said, was a rare honour done the Vice-President hence, he should have shown gratitude by hanging up his boots after occupying the position for this long and allow long-standing members of the party, who had sacrificed their ambition of being running mate for him, to also have a turn at the topmost leadership of the party.

He posited that Dr. Bawumia’s quest to lead the NPP after serving as running mate for 12 years and Vice-President for 2 terms smacks of greediness and ungratefulness.

It is for this reason that he said the Vice-President lacks the virtue and candour to lead the country.
