TradeAID Integrated, a civil society organization based in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region has charged Christians and students at junior high and second circle institutions to help in efforts to fight corruption in Ghana by serving as agents of anti-corruption.
This according to the organization would form the turning point towards winning the fight against the canker in Ghana owing to the fact that there are more Christians in Ghana than any other religion practiced in the country according to statistics.
Speaking to a large congregation of worshippers of the Pusu Namongo Catholic Church in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region, Anafo Emmanuel, Advocacy Officer of TradeAid Integrated outlined the scriptural basis for which Christians must reject and fight corruption in Ghana. He cited the Biblical account of how Jesus refused to grant the request of the wife of Zebedee who wanted to secretly secure prestigious positions for her sons using her relations with Jesus. Favoritism, he said, was not condoned by Jesus.
The campaign by the TradeAid Integrated which is supported by the Ghana Anti-corruption Coalition forms part of several activities to mark the African Union Anti-corruption Day which falls on the 11th of July every year. This year’s theme for the celebration was “African Union Convention on Preventing and combating corruption, 20 years after, achievements and the future”.
The congregants were charged to reject and report acts of corruption while being assured of their protection under the whistleblower’s act.
Some of the participants in an interview with Dreamz News expressed their readiness to follow and track government activities and report acts of corruption to the appropriate authorities.

As part of the sensitization, students of Tongo Girls Model Junior High School and Zamse Senior High School were sensitized on the need to help in the fight against corruption.
