The School of Applied Science and Arts (SASA) of the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) in the Upper East Region has organized its first Annual Bazaar with the aim of promoting employable skills after school.

The Bazaar which was held on Friday, July 30, 2023 at GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga under the theme; Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneur; The role of TVET, brought together some students from selected Senior High Schools in the region.

According to the Dean of the School of Applied Science and Arts, Dr Roland Wemegah, the invitation of Senior High School students was purposely for them to “Come and see practically the skill we are imparting to our students”.

“We want them to come and interact with us and be well informed as to courses to select when they want to go to University”. He told Dreamz news.

He noted that, one of the objectives of their invitation was to position BTU as their preferred choice of University after experiencing the innovation and entrepreneurship skills from the continuing students of the institution.

The event featured Arts Exhibition, Fashion show, Food Fair and Health Screening from the Departments such as Industrial Arts, Hotel Catering and Institutional Management, Medical Laboratory Technology among others.

The Bazaar which was opened to the public provided students and other participants with an opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills and marketing, and help them understand the process of creating and selling products.

The President of the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Eugene Asante on behalf of the department expressed his excitement over what he described as first of its kind since the inception of the University to connect and market products and skills of students to the masses.
