A PICTURE OF ROCK GARDENS ECO-RESORT

Dr. Asaa Sumaila Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer of Rock Gardens Eco-Resort in Bolgatanga has explained that he is not entirely moved by the low patronage at the facility.  Rather, he is delighted that he has been able create an eco friendly resort that can make people happy.

In his quest to establish Rock Gardens Eco-Resort, Dr. Asaah acquired rocky areas which saw some persons assume him to be someone with mental illness for leaving plain lands and has rather gone in for  rocks dominated plots of land.

The eco park has a play area for both adults and children, a zoo where visitors have the opportunity to see monkeys, tortoise, pythons amongst others.

Speaking Monday on the State of Our Nation, the conservation expert says he did not just want to teach the area in the classroom without putting it into practice.

According to him, he is not moved by how much he makes at the facility, rather, he finds peace and joy when others visit and are delighted over the development of the place.

“When I was talking about building that ecosystem, I was not thinking about making money because in any case, how many tourists come to Bolga? Bolga is one of the low tourism destination areas in terms of expatriates coming. So I knew that it is not a juicy place to go into and I’m not surprised that  if the patronage is low,” he stated.

“I’m much motivated by the fact that, at least, I have few young people who are working, I wake up in the morning, I’m pay salaries. At the end of the month, that’s my worry. And the few people that come around and I see families in particular who come around and are happy, that’s the enjoy I get”.

He is therefore, urging residents of the region to endeavour to take advantage of locally available resources to improve their living conditions.

On what to he will tell the youth regarding personal growth and development, he says young  people engaged in menial jobs, should ply their trade with a vision and be driven by that vision and desire.
