Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency, Clement Abas Apaak is outrage over the decision of some of his colleagues from the Minority Caucus to vote for the approval of ministerial nominees of President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Builsa South MP, in a post on social media, asserted that the action of his colleagues has caused supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) unbearable pain and brought vilification and false accusations upon others who were not part of their action.
For this reason, Dr. Apaak prayed that peace and harmony elude them until and unless they confess to their action, which he described as treacherous, and seek forgiveness from those they have hurt.
“May you never find peace until you confess, repent and ask for forgiveness,” he stated, adding “I pray you are found out and publicly shamed, but even if you are not found out, your conscience will forever haunt you”.
He continued, “The pain and agony your treachery has caused millions of party supporters and Ghanaians is upon your head.
You will pay for the tears and sorrow of all those you have betrayed. You will pay for the insults, name calling and false accusations your treachery has brought upon innocent colleagues”.
Some Minority Members of Parliament broke ranks with the party on Friday and voted for the approval of 6 ministerial nominees made by President Akufo-Addo.
The party had ordered all members of the Caucus to stay in the House and block the approval of the nominees to drum home its demand for reduction of the size of government.
In a February 19 statement giving the directive, the NDC said the president had been adamant to its call to cut down on the number of his appointees and thus, rejecting the approval of his nominations would compel him to do so.
However, some members of the party’s caucus defied the directive and voted for the approval of the nominees.
The party and former president, John Dramani Mahama have condemned their action as treacherous and a betrayal of the trust reposed in them.
Mr. Mahama, in particular, urged them to do soul-searching and learn to place the interest of the country above their parochial interest.
