The Parliamentary Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party, PPP in the Bongo Constituency of the Upper East Region, George Afari is confident of victory in the December 7, 2020 Parliamentary and presidential election.

Mr. Afari made his first appearance into the Parliamentary scene in Bongo in 2016 but could not garner enough votes to win despite getting huge support which saw him beat the New Patriotic Party to place second.

In the 2016 parliamentary and presidential elections, Edward Abambire Bawa of the National Democratic Congress won with 18,442 representing 47.94%.

Though fresh at the time, Mr. Afari of the PPP came second with 12,932 representing 33.62% beating Gabriel Nsoh Ade Agana of the NPP who had 6,800 representing          17.68% with the Convention Peoples Party’s Awillum Ebenezer Awine getting 295 representing 0.77%.

“As usual we are doing our best and relying on the grace of God. We as humans will only do our best and pray that whatever message we give to the people; they will accept it and come December 7 they will come all out and vote for me,’ he told dreamzfmonline.com.

The PPP parliamentary candidate recounted his performance in 2016 and expressed confidence that the 2020 polls will present a better result and a possible win adding that “You know increase of vote is meaningless, it’s the win that matters. The people are buying into the idea. The message we are giving to them, the policies, the education is going on well and we hope that come 7th December there will be a big surprise for the people”.

Mr. Afari who runs a football club in the constituency further urged the youth to desist from allowing themselves to be used by politicians to cause mayhem.

“I will plead and plead for peace because we need peace to coexist, we need peace to develop and that Bongo is bigger than any of the candidates so I appeal to the youth to tolerate each other before, during and after the elections,” he added.
