Through communal labor, a mud structure was built in 1993 for KG learners of the Anafobiisi Primary A. School in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region. 30 years on, the building has collapsed, leaving the school in a dire situation as residents again begin efforts to construct a three-unit classroom block.
With the collapse of the structure, the KG learners have been moved to occupy a different block forcing authorities to keep classes 1 and 2 in one classroom. With this development, the two classes in the same classroom are separated by plywood.
At the KG level, learners of KG 1 and 2 are also hosted in one class.
With the current situation in the school, its mission which is to “provide quality education to all children of school-going age through sensitization in order to reduce ignorance and poverty in the society” is heavily impeded.
The school which has a total enrollment of 233 comprising 94 for the JHS, 52 for the kindergarten, and 87 for the Primary level, still lacks basic classroom infrastructure and furniture.
This has over the period resulted in poor academic performance hence the decision to begin the construction of a 3-unit classroom block.
On Friday, May 5, 2023, the community held a fund-raising durbar to commence work on the 3-number classroom block.
Speaking to Dreamz News on the sidelines of the durbar, Felicia Anamobire, Headmistress of Anafobiisi Primary A, said the school is in dire need of classroom infrastructure as she joins the list of individuals appealing for public support to complete the new block.

“If this project is completed, it will help us. provides complete. This block is for the JHS but we are using it for the KG. But now that we created the primary, we combined the primary with the KG, so when it is completed, it will help. So
The current situation is not helping. Class one and class two have been partitioned so when a class one teacher is teaching and a class two teacher is teaching, if it is that in one class, they are to sing, in the other class, they won’t concentrate. So, it’s costing us a lot. Teaching is not going on well so much. She Said while appealing for support.
The Assembly Member for the Anafobiisi Electoral Area, Akanmiim Albert Agariga, has been detailing the current state of the school, why they are embarking on the self-help project, and the need for support.

“So, this particular project is a result of the collapse of the KG block that has led us to borrow the JHS block and house both KG and the primary children. So, if you enter the classroom, you will see that we have used plywood to partition the classes, and that makes teaching and learning difficult.” He added.
