The Upper East Region has gotten a new Police Commander in the wake of increased robbery, motorbike snatching and stealing.

The new Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCOP) Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba’s posting to the region comes barely a month after he accompanied the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) to the region following increased robbery attacks to assess the situation and re-strategize to deal with the rising security concerns.

DCOP Dr. Sayibu Pabi prior to assuming the regional commander position on Thursday March 11, 2021 was the Director in Charge of Police Operations at the Headquarters in Accra.

Dr. Pabi Gariba holds a number of High Academic Qualification including Doctor of Social Science Degree in Human Resource Development from the University of Leicester, Master of Science (MSc) in Policing and Social conflicts from the Department of Criminology, University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.

He has also held various commands positions and appointments in the Police Service in Ghana and abroad including Second in Command, Ghana Police Intelligence and Professional Stands  Bureau, National Police and Staff College Winneba January to March 2017. Deputy Regional Commander Upper West Region from January 2016 to February 2017.

He has therefore taken over from DCOP Osei Kwaku Ampofo-Duku who proceeded on Retirement on Thursday March 5, 2021.

In a Press Release signed by the Public Affairs Officer, Upper East Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP David Fianko- Okyere, Regional Command assured residents of the region, Media and all other stakeholders of maximum security.

The command further entreats residents of the region to offer maximum cooperation to new commander to ensure effective crime fighting in the region.
