The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed regret over the decision of former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to withdraw from the flagbearer contest of the party.

“We note with regret Hon. Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the upcoming Presidential Primaries”.

Mr. Kyerematen, yesterday, announced his withdrawal from the flagbearer contest, citing bias in favour of a particular aspirant, intimidation of delegates and attacks on his supporters in the just ended Super Delegates Conference of the party as reasons for his decision.

In a statement acknowledging his decision to pull out from the race, the party noted his concerns but indicated that it has launched a comprehensive probe into all such incidents and other infractions that reportedly occurred during the conference and will make the findings public when they are ready.

“It is worthy to note that both the Elections Committee and the Disciplinary Committee have initiated comprehensive investigations into all reported incidents of violations and infractions that are alleged to have occurred at various voting centres during the super delegates election which was held on Saturday, August 26, 2023”.

It assured of taking action against any person  who will be found culpable.

“We wish to reassure all stakeholders and the general public that the reports of the aforementioned committees will be made readily available and persons who may be found culpable of any wrongdoing will be held accountable”.
