Despite the high rate of unemployment and the number of people pushed into abject poverty in the country due to the prevailing economic crisis, government insists it has created 2.3 millions jobs.

Presenting the 2024 Budget Statement and Economic Policy before Parliament today, Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta said the jobs have been created in both private and public sectors.

Approximately, the private sector  generated 900,000 jobs while the public sector provided 1.4 million new jobs, he told Members of Parliament.

“We have created over 2.3 million jobs in the private sector and public sector. Approximately, 900,000 in the private sector and 1.4 million in the public,” he stated.

The Minister also insists the economy is recovering and getting back on track.

This, he stated, is evident in the improved macroeconomic indicators, which he said recorded remarkable performance far above what was projected.

He has also outlined a raft of tax reliefs to cushion Ghanaians and boost businesses in the face of the economic difficulties.
