The Member of Parliament for Bawku and Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, has led sod-cutting ceremonies for development projects across the Bawku Municipality and its surrounding communities, marking what he described as a new chapter of development for the area.
The projects, which cut across education, healthcare, road infrastructure and economic development, represent some of the most significant interventions the constituency has seen in recent times.
On the education front, GETFund-backed projects have been initiated at Bawku Senior High School/Technical Institute and Bawku SHTS, alongside the construction of classroom blocks in Mognoori, Jentiga No. 1, Sakpari, and Tambaligo; communities that have long awaited improved learning infrastructure.
Road works also featured prominently, with sod-cutting conducted for the Bawku SHS-Police Station stretch, the Tinsongo bypass, and the Deega-Lalsaa road — corridors expected to ease movement and open up economic activity across the area.
“These developments symbolize progress, opportunity, and a renewed sense of hope for the people of Bawku, reflecting leadership that continues to deliver tangible results,” – Hon Ayariga said.
Perhaps the most anticipated of the projects is a 24-hour economy market, designed to stimulate business activity, create employment and strengthen the local economy by keeping commerce running around the clock.
Completing the package is a planned referral hospital at Baribari/Zemasa, an intervention expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare services for residents of Bawku and its catchment communities.
In his statement after the sod cutting ceremonies, Hon. Ayariga expressed gratitude to traditional leaders, community members, contractors and all who supported the initiatives, and reiterated his commitment to ensuring every project is completed on time and to the highest standards.
