Police in the Upper East Region has arrested 4 persons in connection with a viral video in which a woman is seen being subjected to degrading and inhumane treatment.
In the about two-minute video, the woman believed to be of Fulani extraction and in her 30s is seen naked with a brassier on and surrounded by a group of people.
She covers her genitals with her legs and arms. There is an attempt to take off her brassier, but she resists.
About two or three people move close and drag her down in attempt to open her legs wide and expose her vagina. But she crosses her legs tightly.
They then raise her legs up, exposing her anal opening and vagina while hitting her. She lies on the ground helplessly.
After hitting her for sometime, they leave her and instruct her to run. She runs with blood oozing out from her forehead.
The incident is said to have happened at Kulipeliga, suburb of Zebilla in the Bawku West District as a retaliation to an alleged rape incident perpetrated by a man believed to be a Fulani herdsman.
The herdsman is reported to have accosted a pregnant woman and raped her, sparking anger in the community.
Last night, the police announced that it had launched an investigation into the viral video which captured the supposed retaliatory reaction.
It has since arrested 4 persons and is on the heels of other suspects.
