Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a recently formed political group in the Upper East Region is set to engage grassroots persons, conduct a massive campaign and respond to the needs and concerns of people especially delegates in a bid to ensure Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is elected as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP)
According to the group that was inaugurated in Bolgatanga over the weekend, the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia has over the years gained the experience of beating the NDC in elections especially, John Dramani Mahama who has again been elected as the Flagbearer of the umbrella party ahead of 2024.
Echoed by its Founder, Filson Awankua, Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia(RRU4DMB), believes the Vice President has what it takes to help the NPP ‘break the 8,’ having partnered Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo to two consecutive electoral victory against the NDC.
Mr. Awankua explained that the essence of establishing RRU4DMB is to ensure the right candidate is elected to lead the NPP.
Apart from being better placed to ride the elephant to victory from the perspective of the group, Mr. Awankua notes that the Vice President is capable of strengthening Ghana’s unity and national cohesion.
“The Vice President has so many qualities and has worked very hard from opposition up to date. In fact, he partnered with the president, lost elections, and later won two elections. So, we believe that if this person has labored in opposition and secured victory, and he has the experience of beating JDM. Alan did not partner with Nana Akufu-Addo, and Joe Gartey did not partner with Nana Addo, it was Dr. Bawumia.
So, if the Vice President partnered with Nana Akufu-Addo to beat John Mahama, tell me who are you supposed to bring? Who is the best person? Aside from that, there is another thing about national unity and this is a vice president who jells well with everyone and carries a unifying symbol.” He stressed

When asked why he thinks the Vice President is the right candidate when under his watch, the country has experienced some of the worse economic indicators? Mr. Awankua said “It is under the same vice president that we have drones. We also had Covid-19 yet Ghanaian workers were paid. It took the same administration to see this country through major crises due to Covid and the Russia- Ukraine war. This is the first time but we have seen that the government is turning things for the better.” He noted.
