A communications member of the ruling New Patriotic Party has criticized the government’s handling of the Bolgatanga-Bawku road, saying temporary interventions are insufficient to address the problem.

Issah Sanusi said residents are demanding a permanent solution, arguing that repeated grading and maintenance have failed to improve conditions on the road.

“The people are not asking for reshaping; they want the road fixed properly,” Sanusi said during a radio discussion.

He questioned why the project has not been prioritized under major government infrastructure programs, despite its importance to residents.

Mr Sanusi also expressed concern over reports that stalled projects could take years to complete due to financial constraints.

He said the condition of the road continues to pose safety risks, including accidents and health challenges caused by dust.

Mr Sanusi called on authorities to take urgent action to complete the project and improve conditions for commuters.
