Church of Pentecost launches Environmental Care campaign to promote cleanliness

The Bolgatanga area of the Church of Pentecost has launched an environmental care campaign aimed at promoting sanitation and preventing disease outbreaks in local communities.

Speaking at the launch, Area Head Apostle David Amankwa said the initiative, themed “My Environment, My Responsibility,” is rooted in the Christian belief that humans are stewards of the earth.

He explained that although God created the world, responsibility for its care has been entrusted to humanity.
“We are stewards of the environment, and we must take good care of it,” he said.

The campaign seeks to mobilize church members and the wider community to improve sanitation practices, particularly in urban areas where poor waste management has contributed to disease outbreaks such as cholera.

Amankwa said the initiative will encourage regular cleanup exercises involving various groups, including students, parents, and religious organizations.

He noted that maintaining clean surroundings would not only improve public health but also contribute to national development.

The launch event was attended by representatives from several security services and institutions, as well as traditional and community leaders.

Church leaders said the campaign forms part of broader efforts by faith-based organizations to promote social responsibility and community well-being.
