Female rights advocate Saviour Adonpoka Azaare says the perception that career women cannot maintain successful homes and marriages is outdated and unfair.
Speaking during a discussion on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today” program, Azaare rejected claims that independent women are incapable of balancing family responsibilities with professional ambitions.
“There’s nothing like she’s a career woman and because of that she cannot be able to handle a home,” she said.
Azaare, who works as a midwife, said many professional women successfully manage careers, marriages and parenting simultaneously.
“I see a lot of career women who have families, are raising children and excelling in their careers,” she said. “There is balance in everything they are doing.”
She explained that women still value relationships and support systems despite growing independence and financial freedom.
“We all need people in our lives,” Azaare said. “It is not necessarily a man.”
The advocate also urged society to stop stigmatizing unmarried women or women who delay marriage for personal growth.
“If the man comes and she thinks that you are not what she wants or you cannot support her growth, you don’t expect her to be with such a man,” she said.
According to her, modern women are increasingly confident about making personal choices without allowing societal expectations to define their worth.
