Filson Awankua has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it begins its reorganization at the polling station level ahead of the next general election.
Mr. Awankua, Founder of the Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasized that the ongoing restructuring process is crucial to the party’s efforts to reclaim power. He stressed the need for members to remain focused and committed to the party’s collective desire to achieve victory.
According to him, the success of the reorganization will depend largely on the kind of leaders elected at the grassroots level. He called on party faithfuls to choose individuals who are dedicated to serving the interests of the NPP rather than pursuing personal ambitions.
While he has yet to officially announce whether he will contest the Regional Chairmanship position, Mr. Awankua underscored the importance of strong and committed leadership in rebuilding the party.
He expressed confidence that with unity and discipline, the NPP can successfully recapture power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next election.
“I’m appealing to the party that we should stand united. I’m praying that there should be unity. We are in opposition now so let us come together to fight because we already have a candidate and we need to rally behind him. As for issues about the base, they will come back home and we will be victorious again.” He said.
