Aspiring parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Agana Bawa Rashid is appealing passionately to delegates of the party to elect him as parliamentary candidate.

Mr. Bawa Rashid said he has, for years, demonstrated unwavering commitment to the cause of the NPP and toiled for its progress in the Upper East Region.

According to him, despite committing his time and resources to advancing the party’s campaigns, the party has failed to recognise him for his contributions to its successes in recent elections.

Mr. Bawa, however, believes the delegates in the NPP’s upcoming parliamentary primaries have the power and the responsibility to correct the party’s failures.

He is, thus, appealing to them to recognise his sacrifices for the party by giving him the nod to contest the 2024 Elections.

“They (delegates) know what I have done. They know my contributions to the party, they know my efforts, they know my struggles. I’m still with them. I’m very loyal person and I will continue to be loyal to NPP whether they have given me something or not,” he stated.

“But I’m telling the delegates that if the party is not recognizing me or have not recognised me all this period, the delegates have the power to recognize me and give a mandate. They are holding the power.

They should speak. I’m not coming to give money, I won’t buy anybody. I’m only pleading with them with humility that they decide what’s right”.

Mr. Bawa Rashid explained that he is passionate about serving his people hence, his quest to become a Member of Parliament.

He said this in an interview on Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio, a day after filing his nomination to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency.

Mr. Bawa is facing stiff competition from the Upper Regional Secretary of the party, Elvis Figo Awonekai and the immediate past Presiding Member for the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Nyaaba Abileo Rawfield who both filed their nominations earlier.

But Mr. Bawa said while his contenders already occupy various positions and seeking to add more, he has none and thus, should be given the parliamentary candidate position.
