Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tanga Radio, Agana Bawa Rashid has declared his intention to contest the governing New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast News, Mr. Bawa explained that his intention to bid for the position is in line with his strong desire to serve his people and propel the progress of the constituency.
“I am somebody who enjoys serving people, I’m somebody who enjoy giving out what society has given me and so at any moment in my life, my feeling is to work for society, to help society, to do what I can to make sure that humanity is served,” he stated.
He noted that he has dedicated the greater part of his life working for the progress of the area and has what it takes to bring the much-needed development if he is elected a parliamentary candidate and eventually, becomes MP.
While acknowledging the efforts of past MPs and the current one in developing the area, Mr. Bawa said the constituency needs someone with excellent lobbying and organisational skills like him to scout for resources for its development.
“I have what it takes to serve the people, I have what it takes to make sure that I lobby around, I am an organizer myself and I can tell you that I know how to organize, I know how to move from one community to the other; one area to the other. I know how to connect to make sure that I make life better for the people of Bolga Central Constituency”.
The media practitioner will be making his second attempt for the position after he was defeated in his first attempt 2014.
He had contested against former and incumbent Municipal Executives for Bolgatanga, Joseph Amiyuure and Rex Asanga respectively, but could not make the mark as he trailed them.
However, with Mr. Asanga hanging his boot and Mr. Amiyuure having had his stint as head of the Municipality, Mr. Bawa believes it is his turn to represent the constituents in Parliament.
