LAWYER MOHAMMED TAHIRU NAMBE

Private legal practitioner, Mohammed Tahiru Nambe has declared his intention to contest the parliamentary primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Bawku Central Constituency of the Upper East Region.

Lawyer Nambe, explained that he has over the years played a major role in the progress of the party in the constituency and the region adding he has always been part of the campaign team and the coalition of the results. In his view, it is time for the NPP to reclaim its glory days in Bawku which made Bawku a swing constituency and not the preserve of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The legal practitioner said the gradual monopolization of the Bawku Central Constituency by NDC’s Mahama Ayariga must be checked adding he is better placed to upset the MP and the NDC.

He is with a strong conviction that it is time to end the reign of Mr. Ayariga in the constituency.

The NDC since 2012 has had its candidate win the Bawku Central seat without the NPP intermittently winning it as was seen in the case of Hawa Yakubu and Adamu Sakande.

It is, therefore, his hope that delegates of the NPP will elect him to represent the party to change the narrative of the NDC and make Bawku a stronghold.

“I have decided to announce my intent to seek the nomination of my party delegates in Bawku to vote for me to represent them in parliament. I have the conviction that if Mahama Ayariga hears that MT Nambe is coming, he will have a sleepless night.

I think it is time for me to contest and win the seat for NPP. If you studied the political history of Bawku, you will know that it was NPP comes, goes, NDC comes, goes and NPP comes but Mahama Ayariga has made it look like it is a stronghold for NDC and I believe that with the strength of my candidature, NPP will regain the glory we had in the past. I am not coming to joke. I am coming to take the seat. It is time to end his dream and reign.” He touted his capabilities.

He said for meaningful development to take place, there must be peace in the area hence his desire to work towards maintaining peace in the constituency as he appeals to all factions to ensure peace returns to the constituency.
