The District Chief Executive for Talensi Thomas Duanab Wuni has revealed that many of the small earth dams constructed in the district under the government’s 1V1D initiative have failed.

The dams failure, Duanab Wuni explained, is largely due to poor planning and construction that have resulted in the banks of many of them collapsing.

As result, they are unable to retain water for irrigational and other farming activities.

“There are a large number of them (the dams) that, in building them, the contractors made mistakes and the banks were broken and the water ran out. Yameriga, for instance, got broken, Yinduuri got broken, Gbane got broken”.

Duanab Wuni, however, indicated that there are plans to rebuild them.

The DCE made these revelations while  boasting about the achievements of the Nana Addo led government.

He said although many of the small earth dams built in the area have failed, there are few which contain water and serving the purposes for which they were constructed.

“We could’ve done it better but it didn’t mean that we didn’t do them. We still have some of them that contain water that our animals are drinking from,” he stated.

He claimed the NPP government has outperformed the erstwhile Mahama administration, stating that the current regime has built more health facilities in the area than the former.
