National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Michael Nangena has called for patience from residents of the Upper East Region, saying government development efforts are being implemented in phases and will take time to fully materialize.

Speaking on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today,” Mr Nangena said expectations in the region are understandably high given its consistent support for the NDC, but warned against expecting immediate results across all sectors.

“Development is not something that happens overnight,” he said. “There is a structured approach being followed.”

He explained that the government’s infrastructure agenda includes different layers, with flagship projects such as the “Big Push” initiative focusing on major interregional roads, while smaller community roads are being handled through other funding mechanisms.

He said this phased strategy ensures that both large-scale economic corridors and local access roads receive attention.

Mr Nangena also stressed that newly elected MPs may require time to fully establish working relationships within government and secure resources for their constituencies.

“Some of them are new and still getting accustomed to parliamentary processes and engaging ministries,” he said.

Despite these challenges, he maintained that progress is being made, particularly in education and water infrastructure, and said more projects would become visible in the coming months.

Mr Nangena urged constituents to remain engaged and supportive, adding that constructive feedback would help improve delivery rather than blanket criticism.
“We should work together and monitor progress, not dismiss it,” he said.

He reiterated that the government remains committed to addressing development gaps in the region and ensuring equitable distribution of resources.
