The Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Job Aboyom, has said the party continues to maintain a firm grip on the constituency due to its track record and growing appeal among residents.

Mr. Aboyom noted that the NDC has gained significant support over the years through what he described as impactful, life-changing interventions in the area. He believes the consistent focus on development has strengthened the party’s position and deepened voter confidence.

Since 2008, the NDC has dominated parliamentary elections in Bolgatanga Central, with the People’s National Convention (PNC) being the only party to have challenged the NDC by winning the seat on two occasions. New Patriotic Party (NPP), is yet to secure a victory in the constituency.

It has been observed that the NDC’s continued dominance is gradually turning the constituency into a safe seat, where internal party primaries could become more competitive than the general elections themselves.

Speaking on Wednesday on State of Our Nation, he emphasized that the party remains firmly rooted in the constituency. He also expressed confidence in the Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, stating that his influence and national appeal, positions him well to further advance development and consolidate the party’s gains.

Mr. Aboyom added that the NPP’s declining performance in recent elections reflects what he described as waning appeal within the constituency.

“It is very true and clear to every Ghanaian that the National Democratic Congress is totally in control of Bolgatanga Central. There are many reasons that have informed that.  This is because of the development the NDC has done in the constituency in the past and what we are bringing now. The MP has influenced the employment of 230 people. So, I must admit that it becoming an in-house matter in Bolga Central and I will add that the NPP is becoming very unattractive. The NDC has become formidable.” He said.
