A communicator for the National Democratic Congress has defended the government’s handling of road challenges in the Upper East Region, saying authorities have taken multiple steps to address deteriorating sections.

Speaking on Dreamz FM, Michael Nangena said interventions on the Bolgatanga-Bawku road have been ongoing, including temporary repairs and plans for full rehabilitation.

He noted that the project was inherited with complications, including an abandoned contract, which required both immediate and long-term solutions.

“We are dealing with it in phases, ensuring temporary relief while working toward a permanent fix,” Mr Nangena said.

He also pointed to efforts by regional authorities, including maintenance measures funded locally to improve accessibility for road users.

Mr Nangena emphasized that government responsiveness should be acknowledged, warning against politicizing infrastructure challenges.

He added that while public demonstrations are part of democratic expression, they should reflect the realities on the ground.
