Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of operations at the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim says the government of President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been peerless in terms of job creation.

Speaking at the New Patriotic Party’s regional youth conference and capacity building in the Upper East Region, Alhaji Bashiru said the government in just 6 years created over 2.5 million jobs.

At the YEA alone, he stated that over 2,500 permanent jobs have been provided for especially the youth.

This, he asserted, is a remarkable achievement and that no government since independence has been able to achieve such a feat.

“Anybody who deceives you that this government has not created jobs, the person is a liar. Today, on record, we’ve created 2.5 jobs. From 1957 to date, no government has created million jobs. It is only under Akufo-Addo that in 6 years, we created 2.5 million jobs. Out of these 2.5 jobs, close to 1 million are for young people like myself and yourself,” he said.

The Deputy YEA CEO said this while encouraging the youth of the NPP to commit themselves to the cause of the party.

He said the party has the youth at heart and will provide them with life-changing opportunities should they toil to keep it in power.

Citing himself as an example, Alhaji Bashiru stated that the NPP rewards hard work and dedication and will duly recognise their efforts if they are relentless in pushing its agenda.

“Those of you who have completed, those who are in third year, fourth year, don’t get discouraged, all you need to do is to sacrifice for the party to break the 8. When we break the 8, there will be better opportunities and all of you will come out of the university and you’ll be given the opportunity to serve”.

He added, “Let no one deceive you, this party has a future and that future belongs to you and me, the young people of this country”.

The NPP won the 2016 Elections with a pledge to tackle corruption and unemployment particularly among the youth.

Although the government insists it has created numerous job opportunities since it took over office, statistics indicates that the country’s unemployment situation is worsening.
