Peter Ayinbisa, the New Patriotic Party’s Upper East regional communications director, has defended the party’s media coordination system, stressing the need for discipline and accuracy in public communication amid internal disagreements.

Speaking on Dreamz FM, Mr Ayinbisa said structured scheduling of communicators is essential to ensure that party representatives present consistent and informed positions on national and regional issues.

“We get talking points and guidance on key matters,” he said. “If you go on air without understanding the party’s position, you risk misrepresenting the party.”

His comments follow claims by Peter Atohoba that he had been sidelined from official communications activities in the region.

Mr Ayinbisa reiterated that while Atohoba is free to speak on media platforms, he is not part of the official team responsible for representing the party in coordinated engagements.

He emphasized that media houses have the discretion to invite guests independently but noted that only recognized team members are formally assigned by the party.

“The stations decide who to invite, but when it comes to official representation, we follow a structure,” he said.

Mr Ayinbisa also expressed concern about what he described as deliberate misinterpretation of his earlier remarks in some media reports, saying inaccurate headlines had fueled unnecessary tension.
“I clarified my position, but some reports still misrepresented what I said,” he noted.

He urged party members and the media to prioritize factual reporting and unity, adding that internal disagreements should not undermine the party’s broader communication strategy.

“We must focus on strengthening the party, not creating divisions,” he said.
