A former Upper East Regional Minister and cadre of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Avea Ephraim Nsoh, has urged young members of the party to stop bootlicking party leaders in the hope of getting favours, saying such behaviour will not serve their larger and more important needs.

Prof Nsoh said many young people within the party have adopted a culture of trying to please those in positions of power, hoping to get something in return, but the favours they receive in that manner are often not enough to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

He called on the young members to carry themselves with dignity and focus on what will truly benefit them in the long run.

“I will encourage them to stop the kind of bootlicking that many of them are doing now. For many of our young people when they are in the party, they think that by behaving a certain way, they can get certain favours. And those are favours that do not meet their larger and critical needs,” he said.

Prof Nsoh said the NDC needs young people who are principled, bold and ready to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the party, rather than those who are only looking for personal gain through pleasing those at the top.
