Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abdallah Jonathan Salifu says CEO of the National Buffer Stock Company, Alhaji Hanan Abdul-wahab does not stand the slightest chance of winning the Pusiga seat in next year’s polls.
Contrary to assertions by members of the governing New Patriotic Party that the Buffer Stock CEO is their surest bet to securing the seat, Mr. Jonathan insists he will suffer the heaviest defeat.
“They (NPP) have a lot of hope for Hanan . But I want to sit here and bet my brother that Hanan will be heavily defeated as compare to Karim. Karim is the guy we beat just by 63 votes the last time. As we speak, the case is still in court. Hanan’s gap is going to be more”.
This, the NDC regional Communication Officer argued, is due to the disregard for the party’s 2020 Parliamentary candidate, Abdul-Karim Zanni Dubiure.
According to Abdallah Jonathan, Alhaji Hanan used his influence in the party and his resourcefulness to bulldoze his way into the race without consulting Mr. Abdul-Karim, who is still in court challenging the outcome of the 2020 Elections.
The conduct of the Buffer Stock CEO, Mr. Abdallah claimed, has angered Mr. Abdul-Karim and his supporters, creating disunity in the party in the constituency and diminishing its chances of winning the seat.
“He has come to shoulder the gentleman away without consultation out of disrespect because probably, he has cash. He has pushed him away unlawfully,” he said on Breakfast Today.
“People think it is one of the constituencies to watch out for. But no, if there’s a constituency to watch out for, we know which constituency it is but not Pusiga”.
The NPP and its candidate for 2020, Abdul-Karim Zanni Dubiure lost the seat narrowly to the NDC’s Laadi Ayii Ayamba in the 2020 Elections.
Mr. Abdul-Karim, however, disputed the outcome of the Elections and has since filed an application at the lawcourt seeking an annulment of Madam Laadi’s election.
But while the case is yet to be concluded, the NPP opened nominations for contest for its slot in the constituency.
Mr. Abdul-Karim has failed to pick and file nomination to partake in the contest.
