Police in the Upper East Region has arrested 3 staff of the Regional Hospital for allegedly stealing boxes of medicines belonging to the hospital.
The suspects include the hospital’s driver Raymond Asoke, Assistant Dispensary Officer at the hospital’s pharmacy Noeyelle Bridget and the Regional Storekeeper at the facility, Raheem Fasilat.
Raymond Asoke was arrested on August 4, 2023 after their illicit operations were trailed to an unmarked house where he was caught loading boxes of medicines into a car.
The other two were subsequently arrested and a search conducted in the vehicle led to the retrieval of 12 boxes of various drugs and a further search in the house resulted in the retrieval of additional 22 boxes of medicines.
The police, in a statement, says the Regional Storekeeper has confessed to giving the boxes of medicines to the driver.
All the suspects are currently in police custody, waiting to be arraigned before court while investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest any other accomplice, the police discloses.
